Top Building Product Companies To Watch For 2014

Do you honestly want to invest in stocks right now? It sure looks like the bull market is at least on spring break, if not over. But, if you are interested in putting some money to work just in case the pivot higher is right around the corner, then two firms say buy Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB).

Cantor Fitzgerald and Pivotal Research upgraded the social site leader to "Buy" from "Hold" recommendations. Both research teams set a price-target of $72, which is not a coincidence as they are both written by the same guy.

For the few who may not know, Facebook, Inc. (Facebook) is engaged in building products to create utility for users, developers, and advertisers. People use Facebook to stay connected with their friends and family, to discover what is going on in the world around them, and to share and express what matters to them to the people they care about. Developers can use the Facebook Platform to build applications and Websites that integrate with Facebook to reach its global network of users and to build personalized and social products. It offers advertisers a combination of reach, relevance, social context and engagement.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Roberto Pedone]

AudioCodes (AUDC) designs, develops and sells products and services for voice and data over packet networks. This stock closed up 8.4% to $4.75 in Tuesday's trading session.

    Tuesday's Range: $4.57-$4.86

    52-Week Range: $1.20-$5.04

    Tuesday's Volume: 493,000

    Three-Month Average Volume: 108,175

From a technical perspective, AUDC gapped higher here right above its 50-day moving average of $4.43 with heavy upside volume. This move is quickly pushing shares of AUDC within range of triggering a major breakout trade. That trade will hit if AUDC manages to take out its 52-week high at $5.04 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in AUDC as long as it's trending above its 50-day at $4.43 or above more support at $4.29 and then once it sustains a move or close above its 52-week high at $5.04 with volume that hits near or above 108,175 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then AUDC will set up to enter new 52-week-high territory, which is bullish technical price action. Some possible upside targets off that breakout are its next major overhead resistance levels at $5.75 to $6.50, or even $7.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Jeff Hwang]

Such multiple expansion may be a natural product of time (i.e., older cards naturally carry larger premiums over time), or more likely a combination of time and the card removal effect. That is, over time, the best examples of a given card get graded by Beckett Grading Services or Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), a division of Collectors Universe (NASDAQ: CLCT  ) , and are thus removed from the pool of ungraded cards; as a consequence, the value of ungraded cards declines in relation to the value of graded cards (or the value of graded cards rises in relation to ungraded cards), resulting in multiple expansion.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Garrett Cook]

Web.com Group (NASDAQ: WWWW) shares tumbled 21.63 percent to $15.87 after the company reported Q3 earnings of $0.63 per share on revenue of $143.80 million and announced a $100 million stock repurchase authorization. JP Morgan downgraded Web.com Group from Overweight to Neutral and lowered the price target from $35.00 to $20.00.

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

One technology player that insiders are snapping up a lot of stock in here is Web.com (WWWW), which provides Internet services to small businesses in North America, South America, and the United Kingdom. Insiders are buying this stock into major weakness, since shares plunged lower by 49% so far in 2014.

Web.com has a market cap of $820 million and an enterprise value of $1.3 billion. This stock trades at a fair valuation, with a forward price-to-earnings of 6.5. Its estimated growth rate for this year is 13.1%, and for next year it's pegged at 1.7%. This is not a cash-rich company, since the total cash position on its balance sheet is $15.90 million and its total debt is $520.83 million.

A beneficial owner just bought 1,440,000 shares, or about $22.59 million worth of stock, at $15.69 per share.

From a technical perspective, WWWW is currently trending below both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, which is bearish. This stock recently gapped down sharply from over $20 a share to $14.71 a share with heavy downside volume. Following that move, shares of WWWW have started to rebound off its new 52-week low of $14.71 share to its recent high of $16.23 a share. That move has now pushed shares of WWWW within range of triggering a major breakout trade.

If you're bullish on WWWW, then I would look for long-biased trades as long as this stock is trending above its new 52-week low of $14.71 and then once it breaks out above some key near-term overhead resistance levels at $16.23 a share to its gap-down-day high of $16.35 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that registers near or above its three-month average volume of 756,302 shares. If that breakout develops soon, then WWWW will set up to re-fill some of its previous gap-down-day zone from earlier this month that started just above $20 a share.

Stuart Varney took it a step further, mentioning Toro Company (TTC), the maker of many of the snow blowers that have become a common sight across much of America this year. I agreed, adding that Toro is a major manufacturer of lawn and turf maintenance equipment — and because virtually every lawn, park and golf course in America has suffered damage this year, and Toro is well positioned to profit from the repairs.

I wrote on bearings and velocity control products company Kaydon (KDN) in early March of this year, and I didn't see a lot of value at the time. As the year went on, that call looked worse and worse, as the stock climbed about 18% - well above the S&P 500, and well above industry peers/competitors like Timken (TKR) and SKF (SKFRY.PK). To top it all off, Kaydon announced this morning (September 5) that it had received and accepted a buyout offer from SKF valuing the company at $35.50 - some 45% higher than the price when I thought it looked only about 10% undervalued. So what did I get wrong here, and what can investors do to avoid a similar mistake?

Xylem Inc. (0.7%) (XYL)(XYL - $36.42 - NYSE) is a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and application of highly engineered technologies for the transportation, treatment, and testing of water. The company is expected to benefit from favorable long term fundamentals in the water industry, driven by scarcity, population growth, aging of the infrastructure, and the need to improve water quality. Further, with a large installed base of pumps and systems, the company is well positioned to increase aftermarket revenue, which currently represents roughly 40% of total revenues. Xylem's attractive business mix also generates strong cash flow, which is expected to support acquisitions, debt service, and dividend growth. Concerns regarding weakness in Europe and municipal spending levels in the U.S. remain, although we believe the long term fundamentals outweigh these concerns. Top 5 Japanese Stocks To Invest In 2014

Is there a bond bubble? Maybe. Treasury yields are near record lows. The iShares iBoxx High Yield Corporate Bond (NYSEMKT: HYG  ) ETF yields 6.4%. There's little room for error. The big returns of the past are now almost certainly a thing of the past.

But the word "bubble" can be dangerous. It implies an imminent pop, which is never a sure thing. Investors thought Japanese bonds were in a bubble in the early 1990s. Twenty years later, interest rates are still stuck to the floor.

Last week I asked Charles Schwab chief investment strategist Liz Ann Sonders what she thought of the bond bubble talk. Here's what she had to say (transcript follows):

Sonders: The view from our fixed-income group has been lower for longer. Yes, you are probably well past the major, major tailwind of a 30-year decline in inflation and interest rates, but that doesn't necessarily mean it looks like a V on the upside, as long as we have the Fed in the position that it's in, which is not only keeping rates low on the short end, but buying on the long end and very little reason in the very near term why they should stop that.

    Big Moves Are Reshaping Baxter

Baxter shares have risen 6.8% year-to-date, below the S&P 500 7.6% gain. But even though the stock hasn caused a lot of buzz with investors, management has made a number of important moves in the past two years.

The first came in late 2012, when the company acquired Gambro AB for US$4.0 billion, marking the biggest acquisition in its 83-year history. Sweden-based Gambro makes dialysis products for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease. The company is the world second-largest manufacturer of dialysis machines, after Germany Fresenius.

Baxter already had a presence in the dialysis market but mainly focused on in-home equipment, while Gambro products are mostly used in clinics.

This is a large and growing market for the company: according to the Baxter, approximately two million people worldwide are on some form of dialysis, and that number is growing by more than 5% annually due to rising rates of diabetes and hypertension.

Another major move came in March, when Baxter announced that it would break itself into two separate firms along the lines of its current divisions; it aims to complete the split in mid-2015.

he breakup makes sense because the two units have separate profiles, with the medical devices business being more defensive, while the biopharmaceuticals unit grows faster, albeit with greater risk, wrote Springer.

One of those risks is rising competition. For example, Biogen Idec (NasdaqGS: BIIB) Eloctate hemophilia A therapy received FDA approval in June. Eloctate could become a significant competitor to Baxter Advate treatment, which controls about 35% of the market. But Advate has the advantage of being well established: it was approved more than a decade ago and is now used in 64 countries.

Eloctate is expected to cost roughly the same as Advate, but it requires fewer injections. Baxter is currently developing a longer-

    Thursday's Range: $8.29-$8.84

    52-Week Range: $7.24-$11.25

    Thursday's Volume: 1.82 million

    Three-Month Average Volume: 466,884

From a technical perspective, COT jumped higher here right above its 50-day moving average of $8.14 with monster upside volume. This stock has been uptrending strong for the last month and change, with shares moving higher from its low of $7.39 to its intraday high of $8.84. During that move, shares of COT have been consistently making higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move has now pushed shares of COT within range of triggering a major breakout trade. That trade will hit if COT manages to take out some near-term overhead resistance levels at $8.84 to $9 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in COT as long as it's trending above its 50-day at $8.14 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 466,884 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then COT will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $9.50 to 10.25. Any high-volume move above $10.25 will then give COT a chance to re-fill its previous gap-down zone from May that stared near $11.

    Private-label pressures
Regardless, private labels are becoming a bigger problem for companies such as Kraft and, to a lesser extent, Mondelez. According to an industry profile compiled by First Research, these brands typically cost 20% to 40% less than name-brand products. Couple that with the fact that more consumers are ditching big brands, and we can easily see why ConAgra (NYSE: CAG  ) , Cott (NYSE: COT  ) , and others are continually strengthening their private-label positions.

While billed as a rival to America's Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ: ISRG  ) , Mazor actually bears closer resemblance to tiny Hansen Medical (NASDAQ: HNSN  ) . Lacking profits despite raking in nearly $15 million in revenues last year, Mazor doesn't generate positive free cash flow like Intuitive does. Instead, it burns it like Hansen does (albeit more slowly). Last year, negative free cash flows amounted to $2.1 million, which suggests that Wallachbeth's endorsement may be a bit premature.

One health care player that insiders are active in here is Hansen Medical (HNSN), which develops, manufactures and markets new generation of medical robotics for accurate positioning, manipulation and stable control of catheters and catheter-based technologies. Insiders are buying this stock into relative weakness, since shares are off by 19.2% so far in 2013.

Hansen Medical has a market cap of $113 million and an enterprise value of $118 million. This stock trades at a premium valuation, with a price-to-sales of 7.13. Its estimated growth rate for this year is -3%, and for next year it's pegged at 36.2%. This is not a cash-rich company, since the total cash position on its balance sheet is $21.08 million and its total debt is $29.57 million.

A beneficial owner just bought 8.1 million shares, or about $9.96 million worth of stock, at $1.23 per share.

From a technical perspective, HNSN is currently trending above its 50-day and just below is 200-day moving average, which is neutral trendwise. This stock recently spiked up sharply from its low of $1.14 to its recent high of $1.96 a share with big upside volume. Since that move, shares of HNSN have pulled back and started to consolidation between $1.77 and $1.60 a share. This stock is now starting to bounce higher and move within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade.

If you're bullish on HNSN, then look for long-biased trades as long as this stock is trending some key near-term support levels at $1.60 to its 50-day at $1.51, and then once it breaks out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $1.77 to $1.96 a share high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average volume of 530,653 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then HNSN will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $2.15 to $2.23 a share.
