Singapore, an economically-developed Southeast Asian island nation, is rebounding, with a surprising jump of 3.7% in its economic growth in the second quarter after two consecutive years of sluggishness, notes ETF specialist Doug Fabian in his Making Money Alert.
The country seems to have been boosted by an unexpected rise in manufacturing and gains in the service sector. One way to invest in Singapore is through the iShares MSCI Singapore ETF (EWS).
This exchange-traded fund tracks several of Singapore's key business sectors, including financials, using equities from the country's stock market.
This non-diversified fund seeks investment results that correspond to the price and yield performance of the MSCI Singaporean Index.
At times, the ETF will invest at least 80% of its assets in the securities of its underlying index (stocks primarily traded on the Singaporean Stock Exchange) and in depository receipts.
Last year, EWS gained 21.3%, but it did incur a sharp decline recently. So far in 2013, the fund has endured a slight fall, but its 4.67% dividend yield has helped mitigate that loss.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Lauren Pollock]
Fifth & Pacific Cos.(FNP) is nearing a deal to sell its Lucky Brand denim business after an auction that had stalled regained momentum this fall, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.
- [By Andrew Marder]
It looks like Juicy Couture and Lucky Brand have become too burdensome for Fifth and Pacific (NYSE: FNP ) to handle. The company is reportedly looking to sell off the brands, leaving its portfolio centered around the fast-rising Kate Spade brand. Lucky has had some success in the past year, though Juicy has languished, stuck with the velour tracksuits of yesterday. While Fifth and Pacific hasn't confirmed the rumors, the sale would make a lot of sense, and likely leave the company better off.

Recent cases
Just last month, Fifth & Pacific (NYSE: FNP ) defended itself against infringement accusations regarding its Kate Spade Saturday brand. Another apparel maker, Saturdays Surf NYC, alleged that the Kate Spade spinoff would confuse customers and dilute its brand. The judge overseeing the case decided that the two brands were distinct enough for both to use the word "Saturday."

Calling all cash flows
When you are trying to buy the market's best stocks, it's worth checking up on your companies' free cash flow once a quarter or so, to see whether it bears any relationship to the net income in the headlines. That's what we do with this series. Today, we're checking in on Wausau Paper (NYSE: WPP ) , whose recent revenue and earnings are plotted below. - [By Holly LaFon]
In the second half of the year, Crescent established new positions in a few companies that have more such global footprints. We initiated investments in Google (GOOG), as well as the advertising agencies Interpublic (IPG) and WPP (WPP). The fortunes of all three are tied directly to the level of global advertising spend, and they all saw their shares prices decline due to concerns of a recession-related slowdown. At our purchase price, we believe we were buying each at roughly 11-13x our estimated earnings for 2012 should the fears of a macroeconomic slowdown prove correct. This strikes us as a very reasonable multiple to pay for asset-light global businesses that generate strong free cash flow across the business cycle and have the capability to grow earnings greater than GDP in a normal economic environment.
